Appointment of Mr. Michael T. Suffredini as President, Commercial Space Division

Michael T. Suffredini will lead the Commercial Space Division, a new enterprise for SGT. The Commercial Space Division will focus SGT’s and its affiliated companies’, spaceflight engineering, operations and hardware development capabilities on space related commercial opportunities. Through private and public/private partnerships the division expects to play a significant role in the development of low Earth orbit capabilities to support and foster the growing economy and commercialization of space. Dr. Kam Ghaffarian, the CEO and President of SGT stated “Mike’s experience and accomplishments are the perfect match for our Commercial Space Division and he will build a new future for SGT as we embark on the commercialization of space.”

For the last ten years Mr. Suffredini has served as NASA’s International Space Station (ISS) Program Manager with responsibility for the development, assembly, sustainment, operation and utilization of the 460 metric ton, permanently manned international Earth orbiting laboratory complex. This $3.5B per year, 15 nation project is the largest spacecraft ever built and with the international partnership represents the largest international peacetime project in human history. During his tenure, Mr. Suffredini successfully lead the transition of the ISS program from a development and assembly focus to a research and commercial utilization focus, establishing a platform for groundbreaking research and opening avenues for a new commercial marketplace in space.

Mr. Suffredini has over thirty years of experience in spaceflight, the last twenty six years with NASA. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the NASA Distinguished Service medal, NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal, the National Air and Space Museum Trophy for Current Achievement and the Yuri Gagarin Medal. In addition, Michael has had both the Rank of Meritorious Executive and Rank of Distinguished Executive conferred upon him by the President of the United States.

NASA Awards the SEAS Contract

ATS, a Joint Venture between Alcyon and SGT, is pleased to announce that NASA Goddard Space Flight Center has awarded the Joint Venture the Systems Engineering Advanced Services (SEAS) Contract. The contract will provide mission and instrument systems engineering services at NASA Goddard. The 5 year contract will begin following a 45 day phase in period. The overall value of the contract is $188 million.

SGT awarded the Technical Support Services Contract

Greenbelt, MD, USA – SGT, Inc., a leading provider of Engineering, Science, Mission Operations, and Information Technology services, today announced that the Department of Interior has awarded SGT the Technical Support Services Contract (TSSC). This contract supports the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The EROS Data Center processes and distributes data from Landsat and other Earth observing satellites, as well as other forms of geographic information. As one of the largest civilian data centers, the EROS Data Center manages and maintains a national archive of remotely sensed data and scientific information that is used for land management, energy, mineral, and water resources applications. Under the TSSC Contract, SGT will provide scientific, engineering, and technical support for data reception, processing, archiving, distribution, and research of remotely sensed data and other forms of geographic information, in support of the National Satellite Land Remote Sensing Data Archive.

NASA Awards Science Mission Support Contract to SGT

Greenbelt, MD USA – SGT, Inc., a leading provider of Engineering, Science, Mission Operations, and Information Technology services today announced that NASA has awarded the company a five-year contract to support science programs and projects.

Under the Geophysics, Geodynamics and Space Geodesy (GGSG) contract, SGT will provide specialized science support to NASA Goddard Space Center in the area of geodynamic, geomagnetic, geophysical and atmospheric investigations of solar system bodies such as Earth, Venus, Mars and Mercury. Areas of support services include instrument development, software development and maintenance, data collection, scientific analysis, modeling and interpretation, and public outreach and education.

“We are honored to continue the partnership with NASA Goddard and the Science Community with the award of the GGSG Contract. Our team is committed to the success of our customers and achieving mission objectives,” commented President and CEO, Kam Ghaffarian.

The contract is a cost-plus fixed fee, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity task order contract with a maximum value of $97 million. The contract has a five-year ordering period beginning August 1, 2015.

Under the much-anticipated One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services (OASIS) contract, SGT will provide flexible and innovative solutions for complex professional services. OASIS spans many areas of expertise and mission spaces; spans multiple professional service disciplines; allows flexibility for all contract types, including hybrids and cost-reimbursement, at the task order level; and allows ancillary support components, commonly referred to as Other Direct Costs (ODC), at the task order level.

The core disciplines of the contract include program management services, management consulting services, logistics services, engineering services, scientific services, and financial services. SGT is proud to be one of 15 firms chosen to provide professional services across at least six of the seven OASIS “Pools” (Pools 1, 3, 4, 5A, 5B, and 6).

Awarded by GSA, the contracts have a five-year base period, and a five-year option period.  Orders can extend five years beyond the option period as long as the order is placed during the option period.  The contract period of performance began on September 3, 2014.

SGT Awarded IMOC II Contract

NASA has awarded SGT a nine-year contract to provide mission and flight crew operations support for the International Space Station and future human space exploration.

Under the Integrated Mission Operations Contract II (IMOC II) SGT will provide support and products for spaceflight operations capability development and execution for the Mission Operations Directorate, the International Space Station Program – including the Avionics and Software Office, and the Flight Crew Operations Directorate at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.  This includes support to mission preparation, crew, flight controller, instructor, and analyst training, as well as real-time mission execution activities related to exploration operations and space station operations.

The maximum value of this single award, cost-plus-award indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract is $1.3 billion. The contract award begins Oct. 1. There are two, two-year options that could extend the contract through Sept. 30, 2023. This contract includes a firm-fixed price 61-day phase-in period beginning Aug. 1.
